Clippers Agree To Jersey Sponsorship With Bumble

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a jersey sponsorship deal with Bumble.

Bumble is a dating app geared for women that also has functionality for friendship and business conversations. Bumble requires women to message first.

The Clippers are calling the Bumble logo on the uniform an "empowerment badge," pledging to invest in promoting gender equality.

"We wanted to do something where we could really stand out and do something meaningful," Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said. "The way it is positioned it becomes part of the game, so it's an opportunity to have more meaning for everybody."

The Clippers' deal with Bumble marks the 20th jersey patch alliance struck for this season, the first year of a three-year pilot program by the NBA.

The 10 teams that have yet to sign deals are the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs.

That's hilarious. Never used bumble but I've heard it's just a hookup app like Tinder. Not sure how recognizing that women can be horndogs just like men is empowering, but sure.

I'm sure there's already a million tweets about how it's the perfect jersey ad for a "bumbling" organization like the Clippers. I really wish this franchise would stop serving up easy jokes for the haters. The Clippers already have a negative stigma and the way they choose to market themselves isn't helping at all. :noway:

Also, its nice to see an organization explicitly segregated by gender out there talking about equality.

End this insane bigotry, Steve Ballmer. By next season, I expect at least half the Clippers roster to be women.

Very few things done for the love of money are done with ethics in mind. Besides, ethics are personal opinions on right and wrong. What seems unethical to you may seem perfectly acceptable to someone else. Who are we to let our opinions get in the way of them making more money?

Met my wife on bumble. It's a cool app that lets women make their own choices about who they speak with. It was born out of a very real need due to the vast numbers of sexual advances men make without any request on tinder.

Just to let you guys know. I mean, I know you're not likely to understand something so nuanced, since more than half of you don't like players kneeling during the anthem, but I figured it was worth a shot.
