Vince Carter Plans On Playing One More Season

Vince Carter plans to play one more season in the NBA before retiring.

Carter signed a one-year, $8 million deal with the Sacramento Kings last offseason and he's remained a productive rotation player.

"I plan on coming back next season," said Carter. "I plan on coming back one more season. I’m almost 90 percent sure that’s it after next season. … You kind of go through the season, especially when the end is near and you say, ‘Hey, how do I feel?’ The summertime kind of dictates it all. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the most important time for the older guys in the league like myself and [Dallas Mavericks star] Dirk [Nowitzki] and I think all the other guys, I could say [San Antonio Spurs forward] Pau [Gasol], then could say that preparing for the season in the summer is probably the hardest thing to do when you’re approaching the last years. I always said I’ll walk away from the game when I’m not willing to put the work in to be prepared for the season. I wouldn’t disrespect the game like that."

he would be wonderful for a young team: PHI, LAL, POR, DEN
his body is still decent, he's still got enough to give 15 solid minutes of mistake-free ball.

If he's not going to play for a contender then Charlotte would make a lot of sense for the UNC connection.

They need a Shooting Guard in the worst way and Vince would help them. I hope he plays for a contender though instead of just taking whoever gives him the most money like he did with Sacramento. He can still play

Raptors aren't a lottery team with an abundance of money and roster space to throw at Carter.

Vincsanity, guys with super athleticism usually don't last, kudos!

Charlotte would be nice if they aren't tearing it down.

If he can't go back to the Raptors and the Grizzlies move back to Vancouver, that would be a good place to go.

According to someone at the process, the Mavs are tied at third to fifth worst. Kings at sixth. If anything Vince is holding the Kings back.

I still don't get why someone like Sacramento gave him the money they did; he doesn't sell tickets, and as for teaching, seeing playing time is the best teacher. Is veteran advice really worth $8M for players you might not even have in the future?

I'd give him $2 million / 1. Isn't that like the vet minimum? Also the NBA would cover part of it.

He can play as long as a team is willing give him a contract. Might not be that many offers this time around.
