Thunder Didn't Have Any Chemistry Issues

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Apr 28, 2018 5:29 pm

The first year of the Oklahoma City Thunder experiment with Russell Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony featured many highs and lows.

The Thunder had big wins against some of the league's best teams, but they also inexplicably lost with frequency to teams in the lottery.

Sources within the Thunder were adamant that chemistry was never an issue for the team. Even as players struggled to adjust to new roles, they bought into what they were trying to accomplish.

George and Anthony in particular made the biggest adjustments. Westbrook took a lesser role early in the season and struggled, but was playing similar to his 16-17 season as the year progressed.

A Carmelo complaining about being beched would had been fine.

It took a while, but once Melo's giant ego took enough of a beating and he accepted his role/came back to reality, chemistry worked itself out fine. Everyone knew it was gonna take a some time.

They'd be much better off with Melo coming off the bench and starting a 3&D guy.

Well, all is moot if PG13 leaves

Thanks for the honesty.

Dude his entire job is to follow this team around and cover them. Why is it a bad thing if he likes the team he spends most of his life with?

He was the one that went to the Coach Donovan and ASKED to change his role. ESPN did a whole article about it. But don't let facts get in the way of your blind hate.

So, we can agree it took him some time to come to terms with the thought many had before the season began, him coming off the bench since it was the most logical spot for him. At this stage of his career, he is a bench scorer and nothing but. Well, this last playoff series would argue he is losing touch on that as well.

Speaking of ESPN articles, here is one from an hour ago that shows just how much of a team player Melo is and how much he is willing to "sacrifice". That kinda blew up in your face, lol.

"Yeah, I'm not sacrificing no bench role, that's out of the question..."

I can't think of many teams that are drooling over putting him into a starting lineup. Well, none that would expect to win anyways.

The Thunder may not admit they had chemistry issues but their season record, observed performance and 1st round exit all say otherwise.

Don't you have to learn how to play defense first?
