Brent Barry Considered Candidate For Pistons' Front Office

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 7, 2018 6:40 pm

The Detroit Pistons are expected to pursue Brent Barry for a role in their front office.

Tom Gores and Arn Tellem are expected, however, to pursue a candidate with previous experience to run the basketball operations department.

The Golden State Warriors attempted to hire Barry for a scouting position last summer, but were unable to due to his ongoing television commitments. The two sides even discussed a part-time arrangement to allow Barry to fulfill his TNT duties with the understanding he would join the Warriors on a full-time basis once his contract with Turner expired but talks fell through.

Drink a few beers, smoke a little ganja and sing songs about love and basketball... That is the exact opposite of Stan Van. Perfect fit!

The Pistons fans on reddit want Hinke or Griffin with a Bud or Massina as coach. Barry wont get the job.

Good thing the Piston fans are making important organizational decisions like that now. Maybe they should just post it as a poll question here on RealGM.

I hope Gores offers the GM role to Billups. I don't care if he hasn't got any previous GM experience because he was preparing for that role mentally in the last years of his playing career. He also is widely respected with the current players which always goes a long way. I'm not sure who is right for the HC position with the roster in place but I am more worried about the guy that sits above the HC because Gores doesn't have the smarts to call the shots basketball wise.

Yea, big downside, but it doesn't mean he didn't spend four years in that program......it's not Pop's fault. He got two rings as well.

Why not just use the regular clap emoticon?

Or just use this:

ya. you need an old (affordable) flexible coach who is willing to go to DET(coldweather, downtrodden franchise) and willing to experiment uptempo (see HOU) to excite the ticketbase (see HOU) and enhance roster value (trades etc). once a MCHALE-type coach stabilizes you can decide to retain or upgrade.

Why do they need an old coach?

Very poor argument. They need quite the opposite, actually.

I don't know what's going on in that meme but it ain't a slow clap. It looks more like a heroine addict trying to mimic Lord of the Dance without getting out of their chair.
I was thinking of something more like this.

A genuine and well deserved applause for a well cut slice of cheese! :D
