Suns Won't Rule Out Trading No. 1 Overall Pick

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 18, 2018 11:08 pm

The Phoenix Suns are believed to be in favor of selecting Deandre Ayton with the first overall pick, but that's dependent on them keeping the pick.

Ryan McDonough revealed the Suns could consider trading the No. 1 pick depending on what is offered, even if it's an established player.

“We’re certainly open to that," said McDonough. "We’ll consider it. I think we’ll have more information closer to the draft than we do today after we go through the workout process and the interview process. Get the medicals, physicals.

"We’re open to that. I think if you look around the NBA, as far as the veteran players, there are probably a few we’d consider trading the pick for, outright, just pick for player. It will be a busy month for us.”

If you flip to page 6 of your GM/VP of BBall Operations manual you’ll see the following:

1) If your team wins the draft lottery then make the following statement: “We will not rule out trading the 1st pick”

A) only exception to this rule is if you can select LeBron James with the first pick.

His history suggests he just wants to be Danny Ainge really bad.

Ah, the annual "_________ is open to trading the number one pick" story.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

I'm sure it has happened but when was the last time the team that traded for the first pick won the trade? I know orlando fleeced the warriors when they traded Webber away.

Did a little research and it appears brad Daugherty was the lone exception
