Raptors Interview Ettore Messina, Ime Udoka

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun May 27, 2018 3:13 pm

The Toronto Raptors interviewed Ettore Messina and Ime Udoka for their head coaching position.

The Raptors also have interviewed three internal candidates -- Nick Nurse, Rex Kalamian and G-League coach Jerry Stackhouse.

Nurse is considered Toronto's strongest internal choice.

Messina, 58, has been part of Gregg Popovich's staff since 2014.

Udoka, 40, also has interviewed for offseason openings with Charlotte and Orlando.

Why not just hire Messina and take ALL of the Spurs coaches, Hammond and Udoka. Someone else is going to hire Stack, so put Udoka in charge of the G-League team and while you're at it, trade DeRozan for Kawhi. Spurs are one season from falling into the lottery

Since the best candidates are either gone or not available, Messina might be the best choice.

Thanks for the honesty.

I don't know what the issue is here with the Raptors, but they should hire Ettore Messina. He is a terrific coach who made his mark in Europe and paid his dues as an assistant in the NBA. Its time to give him a head coaching position. The Raptors would be a perfect situation for him, it is a multicultural city that thrives on diversity and Messina is all about being different.

I agree. If they aren’t breaking it up they should give him a chance. He has paid his dues. He has interviewed for many positions this year and the past but he always falls short.
