If someone offered you a raise 10x's higher than what you get paid now, would you really say 'sorry I can't possibly take that, people might think I have an ego problem.' Those teams lined up to pay Parsons because he was good at basketball and they thought he could help their teams; he was a solidly good player--a huge wing who could initiate and hit 3s--every year he's played. This 'thieving' you're talking about is the result of his knees not cooperating the last couple of years, it's not like he's been lazy or refused to play or something. Dude's just been injured, his contract would be big but not awful otherwise.
