DeMarcus Cousins Rejected Two-Year, $40M Extension Offer From Pelicans Before End Of Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jul 3, 2018 10:54 pm

DeMarcus Cousins rejected a two-year contract extension from the New Orleans Pelicans in the $40 million range after the injury but before the season ended, according to sources.

When Cousins rejected the offer, the Pelicans took it off the table.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers were expected to have interest in Cousins but used their cap space elsewhere.

Bad idea.

No one advised him on his injury?

Thanks for the honesty.

If someone advised him to turn down $20 mil a year coming off an Achilles injury in a market where no one needs centers and no one has cap space that's terrible advice

Reports indicated he was looking for a 1 year deal for $15 million. Looks like he was planning on being a free agent next year regardless. If he recovers well I can see Washington maxxing him out next year.

When I read the headline, I thought: he rejected it before he got injured, surely.

Nope. He rejected it after the injury. wtf? who is his agent?

Porter would have to go then obviously. Cousins moves the needle more than Porter does.
