Spurs Decline To Match Kyle Anderson's Offer Sheet With Grizzlies

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 9, 2018 12:36 am

The San Antonio Spurs have declined to match the four-year, $37 million offer sheet Kyle Anderson signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Anderson was a restricted free agent this offseason.

Anderson was drafted 30th overall in 2014 by the Spurs out of UCLA.

He got paid $37M for averaging 8/5/3. The Spurs a rational.

I think if there is a time to retire for Pop, it's now. His wife just died and the Spurs seem to be on the rebuild with potentially losing their franchise player in the near future. Golden State is crushing it and doesn't appear to be slowing down. This move shows that a rebuild is imminent as well as letting Parker go. Ginobili and Gasol are on their last leg and Aldridge and Gay are past their primes. Pop revolutionized this franchise and should be proud of what a great run they had for so long. For the talent they had, I would consider him the best coach ever. Oh and he can just focus on Team USA and running the Olympics now lol.

I guess the Spurs tend to cut ties with flawed role players when they get overpaid.

But congradz Grizz, finally got someone to cover Parsons.

But they just lost Tyreke, they probably need another scorer? None of Conley, Gasol, Anderson and Green are really scorers. Can they depend on the 18yrs old J3?

His impact went beyond raw numbers. He was arguably the second best player on a 47 win team. That was a fair contract. Maybe they don't want to tie up $ with the uncertainty of kawhi, but this is a good get for Memphis.

Spurs are in tank...uh...rebuild mode, so no need to give a role player a long term MLE contract.

The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to re-sign Davis Bertans to a four-year, $20 million deal.

Bertans was a restricted free agent.

Bertans averaged 5.9 points and 2 rebounds per game in 77 games played this past season with the Spurs.

Who's ignoring deffense. The Spurs play good defense. Whoever they pull out of the g-league/rookie-class to fill his spot will play good defense.

But you're right about LaVine... that was nutballz!

Good decision; this has bust written all over it -- high IQ system player worth no more than $5M. Like why would the rebuilding Grizzlies throw big money at a guy better suited on a contender?

Gasol is not a scorer? By your definition, there must be about five "scorers" in the league.

He averaged only 17 ppg last season, there are a lot more than five players that scored more than that?

ZBo was their scorer, Parsons was supposed to be the next one. If Marc Gasol is their scorer, they're not gonna be a very good team.

Loved! He'll be fine in Memphis. High IQ player who makes players around him better, just like Conley and Marc.
