Jimmy Butler Open To Signing With Lakers In 2019

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 24, 2018 8:41 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers plan on pursuing another max contract free agent next offseason.

The 2019 free agency class includes Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins and others.

According to a source close to Butler, he's open to the idea of joining LeBron James with the Lakers.

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded for Butler on draft night in 2017.

Lakers should get it done now. Hart, Kuzma and KCP for Butler and cash. Will Kyrie still join Butler with Lebron?

While they're at it trade Ball, Ingram and Deng for Lillard.

PG Lillard - Rondo
SG Butler - Lance
SF Lebron - Myhailiuk
PF Beasley - Wagner
C McGee - Zubac

What happened was that the last 5 years was all just a bad dream. The sleeping giant has awoken and things are being put back together just as they've always been. Even the Clippers are playing their part by being awful again, just like always.

To fans of other teams who thought the Lakers would continue being bad, this all must be coming as an emotional shock. Get used to it. This is the new reality.

Brilliant. Sacrifice good assets for a player on the last year of his contract when they can just sign him outright next summer.

Nope, Lakers want Kawhi in free agency. Enjoy him while you can.

Hard to see any hungry superstar wanting to play with Lebron. But maybe by next year Lebron is going to take a back seat

Exactly. This is the compete opposite of what they should. Stand pat till the deadline. If something comes along to good to pass up you consider but only a rental. You can’t give up all your assets and cap flexibility right now. That is the biggest assets this team has. Only a few players I would deal for longterm and give up assets. Anthony Davis is probably the only big chip item as I don’t count Giannis because I don’t think he will be moved for a very long time if ever. As good as Jimmy Butler is I would never give up that much for him. He’s a rental. I can sign him outright this offseason. Good try though. If they would do that awful trade explain to me why they wouldn’t have just traded for Kawhi this offseason. He’s a younger and better version of Jimmy Butler.

I have a strong feeling the Lakers will have a good shot at a few players this season. Sometimes might decide to rebuild and start over. If Washington comes out flat I think something will happen there.

The Blazers are not trading away the face of their franchise for.... well, anything, let alone that package you just put forward. I know Lillard is overrated but that isn't gonna get it done. POR is a small market that can't get stars to sign.... and those guys ain't stars. (Sorry LaVar!)

I like the Lakers young cheap players. I think they should ride it out. Its not like anybody but James and Ball will get to hold the ball anyway, so what expensive player works? Klay Thompson?

Klay might be the best fit in the league for that team... but he would most likely be trading rings for money, frustration and ultimately despair. He'd be better off signing in Philly or in NOLA with AD and Holiday. Get with some guys that will be hitting their peak at the same time.

The Lakers are not going to land anyone without overpaying due to the lebron tax. Will Butler be worth a huge deal next year...lot of mileage on him.

Kawhi has mentioned the clips recently...he doesn't want to guard LeBron's man....and Walton as coach? I'm sorry but the lebron story line is really pushing reality a bit too far... everyone has to pretend they want to play with him.

Only way Lakers get to finals is with Durant and LeBron taking a backseat. Possible I guess... But not sure Durant wants to be viewed as a mercenary... But who knows.

The league definitely doesn't want gsw 4-peating o it could happen.

Who wouldn't "consider" playing with LeBron.

The best they can get is an unnamed source close to Butler?
