What happened was that the last 5 years was all just a bad dream. The sleeping giant has awoken and things are being put back together just as they've always been. Even the Clippers are playing their part by being awful again, just like always.

To fans of other teams who thought the Lakers would continue being bad, this all must be coming as an emotional shock. Get used to it. This is the new reality.

The Lakers will never have to endure extended putridity simply because of the location. In the 90s, even with the Kobe trade, they weren't winning any rings in the West without Shaq coming to build his movie career. 20 years later and Lebron does the same thing. The Ball/Ingram Lakers of today would've had a similar ceiling to an Elden Vampell/Kobe/Eddie Jones squad.

What happened was that the last 5 years was all just a bad dream. The sleeping giant has awoken and things are being put back together just as they've always been. Even the Clippers are playing their part by being awful again, just like always.

The Lakers will never have to endure extended putridity simply because of the location. I guess that's a bit harsh, but it would be one thing if they went out and signed a healthy Demarcus Cousins level all-star to lead the rebuild and get back to respectability... but because it's LA, they get a GOAT contender. That just doesn't happen to other teams. It's not even like they were devoid of star talent during the down years, as Kobe was still a major draw even when they were sucking.
