It would be cool if Deng plays very well and starts as stretch 4, then Gibson comes off the bench.

Would be interesting to see if his bench was the starting unit for that Bulls team.

It would be hillarious if next season Deng proves to be a better rotation player than the whole LA bench except for Kuzma maybe.

He gave up 7.5M on his entire contract. He’s getting 2.4M this year and will prob get 2.6 next year. So actually he only lost 2.5M. That’s the price he’s paying for wanting to play.

It's a one-year make-good deal. Switchable wings are the most valuable commodity in the league. He has 82 games to prove that he can still be a reasonable facsimile of what he was before the Lakers sat him.

It's important to remember that we don't know what Deng is at this point. The Lakers sat Deng while they were trying to loose, not win. They made a decisive switch mid-season from trying to win and attract FA's to tanking for Lonzo and developing Nance, Randle and Ingram who all played similar positions as Deng. There was a major flip in the philosophy and direction of the organization and Deng was a casualty. We will see what he brings this fall.

The rock bottom starting negotiation point for a buy-out is a min salary, so 5 mil off the top. He can now play and give himself plenty of up-side. The deal was an absolute no brainer for any player w/out blown ACLs or something else.

Tom we get it. You used to date the hot cheer leader back in high school but she's no longer hot. Just let it go. Big fan of Thibs but these are really bad acquisitions.

Deng and Rose are good signings at Vet Minimum.

this guy has a huge chip on his shoulder. he'll go thru hell and high water with Thibs. and for the vet's minimum it's the bargain of the year.
