Jimmy Butler Requests Trade From Wolves

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Sep 19, 2018 6:28 pm

Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Wolves acquired Butler on draft night in 2017.

Butler would prefer a trade to the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers or New York Knicks. All three teams have cap space to sign Butler outright next offseason as a free agent.

If they don't get something decent for him, the Wolves basically gave Dunn and LaVine for another 5 years of playoff drought.

It won't be easy to get even CLOSE to equal value. He's a complicated fit for many teams and to limit to 3, good luck w/that! RIP T-Wolves. If I were Butler, I would have played out the contract to avoid cumbersome trade transition situation like this. His PR overhead is going to be extremely high and distracting.

What's so special about those 3 teams?

Makes perfect sense... He wants to be in NY or LA but doesn't want to be involved in this seasons Lakers debacle.

How? Especially if the new team gets commitment from him.

OP: A bit too early for the Nets......finally having their own picks, but would this be too good to pass up? Isn't DLo good friend with KAT? Add a little asset and it should work for both teams.

Do the Knicks want to do something like this again? I hope they stick to their youth movement.

The Clips with Bev/ABrad/Butler would be scary defensively, maybe Gallo plus?

Man, the resurrected Bulls not meant to be......

Can Thibs get the Pups to buy in?

I don't really care about trading Dunn, Lavine or Markannen. I don't care about drafting Patton without wheels. But we traded Rubio for Thibs/Butler one season show. That hurts.

Of these three teams, I think the Clips are in the best position to make it happen... But Bradley would likely be a key piece. Maybe two of the three Bradley-Beverly-Williams?

This could actually give Wiggins the growth opportunity he needs. There's no way he lives up to that deal with Butler hanging around. (Probably no way he lives up to it either way!)

Got me, kinda surprised I didn't see Lakers on that list.

There was a previous report stating that Butler was open to joining Lebron on the Lakers. This trade demand would indicate that he is willing to go there, but not if he has another choice. Looks like that empty max slot on the Lakers is a last resort for anyone with a choice. This is the first time in sports history where the "best player in the game" can't find an elite talent willing to play along side him and get a huge paycheck to do so. Magic might want to consider using some of his assets to trade for someone while he still has the chance.

Butler showed during the last few years that he is an overrated diva that cannot be trusted in the locker room. I hope Knicks don't take the bait. I mean, besides Porzingis they don't have any trade pieces that would interest the Wolves anyway, but still, I hope they don't go that way. Save your money and wait for Kyrie Irving next summer.

I think the Magic should consider getting him.
