Klay Thompson Reiterates Desire To Remain With Warriors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Sep 28, 2018 12:25 pm

Klay Thompson reiterated his desire to remain with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson will be a free agent in 2019.

"It's awesome," Thompson said after Thursday's practice. "Makes you want to win now, though, that's for sure. Makes you want to make the most of it. I think we have in the last two years.

"It's crazy because we are back-to-back champs, but at the same time I feel like we're all relatively young and we can still get to another level and keep winning. Not just this year, but years beyond. Not a lot of guys can do that with their team. So I love coming to work every day because I realize this is a special group and a special time to be a Warrior."

Thompson was asked whether he would be weighing that factor more heavily in the offseason, he replied without hesitation.

"Yeah, definitely," Thompson said. "I think it would be stupid not to be. It's hard to walk away from something -- you were here when it started and yeah, you just want to stay on the train as long as you can."

Literally every basketball fan should appreciate this team's success story. Only greed prohibits that.

This team would be more likeable if KD hadn't signed.

So... Klay was asked the same question and he gave the same answer? Thanks for the update RealGM!

Exactly. Steph Curry below market deal and the salary cap was the reason. Plus KD had to join the team that embarrassed him the year before. I would love to see what people would say if LeBron James joined them after 2015

The reporters think if they keep asking the same thing every day, at some point Klay will tell them he prefers a shorter contract elsewhere and make less, play on a worse team, just so because he can jack up 1-2 more shots per game.

I like this team! Very likeable, humble players and a great success story. I hope Klay stays and retires as a Warrior!

Why didn't anyone ever ask the same question to guys like McHale, Worthy and Manu? Don't think anyone ever thought less of these guys for being on a great team.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

You mean TT. LeBron and Rich can get TT a $150m contract this time.

If the Warriors win this season and Klay decides to join the Lakers, Lebron would be welcoming a younger guy that has more rings than he does.

Lol ya.

Exactly why KD won’t join LeBron even if he leaves GS. Why help LeBron get more rings when at that point, when he is the younger one and will get even less recognition behind LeBron as he does now?

Seeing how Lakers fans view Shaq despite 3 Finals MVP and regular season MVPs and Kobe having none in ththe 3-peat.

TT's next contract will average around 4.5 mil a season - I don't care who his agent and teammate is.
