The Los Angeles Clippers have held ongoing trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jimmy Butler.
The Wolves have sought multiple players and picks for Butler.
Minnesota would prefer to acquire Tobias Harris in any deal involving Butler, but the Clippers intend to keep him.
The Wolves have been ambitious in their trade negotiations as they still hope to keep Butler.
Butler has the Clippers on his wish list.

As soon as the Clippers says certain players are off limits in a Butler trade I hang up if I'm Minnesota.

Agreed the Clippers certainly don't have any players that should be off limits in a Butler trade. Basically the Wolves aren't trading Butler unless the deal includes a good player to replace him a young player with Potential and a FRP. With the Clippers that would be Harris, SGA and the FRP.

without a 3rd team involved I don't see any scenario where LAC gets Butler without including Harris. Not even so much for on court value as much as Wolves won't want Gallo , Gortat is 34, MIlos is 31 etc Bradley can't be traded
they'e have to send 5 players without 1 of those 4 outgoing without Tobias

Lucky for the Wolves Butler is not holding out.

He’s going to Heat or Rockets. Anybody else just waits until next offseason. Including Clippers. It’s debatable if he’s top 20 player anyway.

I don't think Clippers are that much in play either and definitely not without Tobias.
heat have the best options salary wise to make a deal now over Houston but there are a couple of other sleepers like N.O. and the Bucks that could produce a decent enough return depending on the Wolves desire to move on as opposed to pushing it to the dl where the returns are far less.

Jimmy is so like Melo. Forcing his new team to give up assets to get him now, so he can get the 5 year max.
He isn’t about winning. He is about making the final penny.

Not debatable at all. Butler is possibly top ten. If not doesn't slide very far. SI has him as #10.

regardless of his rankings as a player on the court top 10 #1 top 50 etc ;His selfish personality and priorities have to be very low on the desirable meter for any team looking to acquire his services on the court esp if doing so depletes their roster so much so that it's all or nothing with Butler for 1 season on the roster and coming up short with then few options to improve the roster only leaves that org with a "almost good enough to win a championship" roster by signing him to a max deal.

Wasting good years of his career if this happens. I hope it fails.

Star players win in the NBA. Wolves traded LaVine, Dunn, and #7 pick Markkanen for Butler. Bulls then proceeded to suck and the Wolves added 16 wins. It wasn't a coincidence. I think the reason Butler asked for a trade is he got indications that the Wolves wouldn't max him next year. That is because the Wolves have an idiot owner who Maxes Wiggins. If I were running the show I would max Butler and have him for the next six years. If I were running the Miami Heat I would offer Richardson, Bam and FRP so fast and have the pen in my hand ready to sign the deal. Richardson and Bam ain't winning a team anything. Butler would add ten wins.

He's a all star caliber defender near the end of his prime expecting to max out and that is all he cares about at this point. Which is more fuel to believe most Teams are not interested in self serving d-bags like Butler who care more about Brinks trucks than winning basketball games and if they had to deplete their roster to get him and then be prepared to pay him to keep him strangling anymore options to replace the depleted roster they would just pass. He's not some generational icon that would demand that value.
Wolves have to take back one of Whiteside or Ty Johnson to get one of Richardson or Bam and they are not getting both of those players and a frp for an expiring Bulter they have to max out to keep.

Butler came back before fully healthy last year to get the Wolves in the playoffs. He cares about winning. He's only 29 years old and should have around six great years left. I would love to be the team that could offer him $190 million for five more years. That's a bargain.

Butler is an impact player but was more than Butler changing teams. CHI lost a bunch of key players and was trying to lose. MIN added a bunch and their two young stars were a year older.
