Glen Taylor Comes To Understanding With Jimmy Butler

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Oct 15, 2018 2:15 pm

Glen Taylor met with Jimmy Butler on Sunday before practice and several days before the start of the season.

The two reached an agreement that Taylor would continue to work to find a trade of Butler that satisfies the Minnesota Timberwolves and that Butler will be a good teammate and will play hard until that happens.

Trade talks are currently believed to be dormant.

“They want me to go out here and hoop to the best of my abilities,” Butler said after practice on Sunday. “Make sure I’m healthy. Compete, ‘cause that’s what I love to do. Go up against the best, ‘cause that’s what I love to do. And do it for the guys that’s in the same jerseys as me.”

Taylor also addressed the team and was seen smiling and laughing with Tom Thibodeau and Scott Layden after practice.

Thibodeau has supported Butler throughout the process. Several teams believe Thibodeau is not interested in trading Butler.

Despite the headline, this is the worst possible news for the Wolves. Butler and Wolves agree Butler will do the minimum to collect his contract, but he isn't happy and onboard with the teams objectives.

Doubtful that's what's gonna happen. Butler and Thibs are tight and both are all out competitors.

It's whether Wigs and Towries gonna be upset and dog it that's the question.

Thanks for the honesty.

You don't think it's significant that Butler doesn't withdraw his trade demand and Wolves don't withdraw their statement that they will try to trade him?

I don't see how it's possible for the season to go well for the Wolves when their best player is unwilling to buy into the future success of the team.

Come in and do the bare minimum. Get paid to do it. And then still cash in because even if his numbers aren’t good, he’ll say, I told them I wanted a trade so didn’t try as hard. It’s a win win for butler. Wolves prob aren’t gonna make the playoffs in a deep west anyways.
