Tyson Chandler Chose Lakers Over Warriors

Tyson Chandler admitted he decided between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors after he was waived by the Phoenix Suns.

Chandler has made an immediate impact for the Lakers.

The Warriors have depth issues at center until DeMarcus Cousins returns from his Achilles injury.

I'm 100% sure they did indeed want Dwight and likely Chandler. Dwight declined because he wanted a guarenteed starting role on a team where he can possibly resurrect his career and continue to play in the NBA and contribute for a few more good years. That would not have happened with the Warriors. He likely would have had similar numbers and minutes to McGee with them imo at best and only until Cousins came back.

Chandler already has a ring for one, and two he spent too much time sitting on the bench in the last couple seasons. He knew the Lakers absolutely needed a backup center while the Warriors would only need him part time, if that, depending on how much they use their small lineups and younger guys while they wait for Cousins.

Cousins is a little different as he is an all-star and in his prime, but if he doesn't click fast depending on when he's back I don't think Kerr can afford to keep trying as they get closer to the playoffs since it is only a 1 year situation.

I give Chandler credit. He already has a ring. If he joined the Warriors, he may have received the backlash (warranted or not) sometimes thrown at ring-chasers. I know this may sound crazy...I understand 2 rings > than 1 ring. His ring with the Mavs was part of a long campaign, with a team that was built over time and he was a key contributor. He is likely at peace that he EARNED a ring. Please don't kill me for this, but if I were in his shoes...I'd also have taken the chance to play more and battle than a ring riding the bench for a team that would have won without me. I would already be at peace as a competitor. Good for him.
