Dave Joerger Believes Brandon Williams Would Like To Replace Him

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Nov 19, 2018 7:36 pm

Dave Joerger has believed that Sacramento Kings assistant general manager Brandon Williams has been on the lookout for a new coach to replace him since last season.

Williams replaced Scott Perry in 2017, joining the Kings' front office from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Sources say Joerger is not in danger of being fired anytime soon.

Vlade Divac released a statement in support of Joerger on Saturday.

“Dave has our full support and confidence,” his statement read. “We continue to work together to develop our young core and compete.”

Williams has been given additional power over the past year and handles most of the day-to-day operations while Divac has final say on personnel matters.

Watched the Kings last night. They looked better than they have in years. Joerger seems pretty legit.

They should replace the guy that wants to replace him.

Once again, the Kings are undermining a quality coach - from Brendan Malone and now Dave Joerger.

Given how young / re-tooled roster and the deep Western Conference, for the Kings to have a .500+ record at this stage is remarkable. Unfortunately, this young Kings roster comes at a time of one of the most hyped NBA draft staring potential elite level players named Zion Williamson & RJ Barrett. Likely the ownership wants to tank with a shot at the top 3 picks.

Kings are fast taking the crown for most inept franchise in the modern NBA - from undermining coaches, to the Owner sabotaging high draft picks, to making disastrous trades ( Cousins ).
