Carmelo Anthony's NBA Career May Be Over

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Dec 3, 2018 2:27 am

League executives have told Brian Windhorst that Carmelo Anthony may have played his last game in the NBA, citing his lack of defensive ability.

The 34-year-old parted ways with the Houston Rockets on November 15th after 13 games. He averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 29 minutes during that span.

He is heavily favored to sign with a Chinese team according to betters, followed by the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Portland is the last place he should go to. Go to China or sign with Denver for a day to retire.

Trying to imagine where he could be in the NBA and be an asset.

What about Memphis?

As long as he isnt being given any of the rookie's minutes, he can maybe help that team in a stretch the floor capacity, and just making basketball's simple plays with Gasol in the post and other players he can trust.

If they play a slow enough pace maybe he can catch up to Memphis basketball, and give them a boost.

Then, Memphis versus Houston in the playoffs. Boom instant classic.

I know Carmelo gets a lot of s*** here and on other forums but I struggle to believe that he can be any worse than the thirty 12th man of any rotation.
Yeah, his defense is bad but there are other bad defenders in the NBA. Carmelo can still find a team - as long as he's not picky. I know Melo is a big fan of AI - he should learn a lesson from his career and fit in where he fits.

He is still good enough to play in the NBA, but not good enough for teams to put up with his ego.

Melo's ego led him to an early retirement.

He could've still been a good useful player off the bench.

The real question is, is there still a dumb GM in the league?

He was coming off the bench in Houston.

People talking ego and that’s not the issue right about now.

This. If he had a Vince Carter type motivation to keep playing, he'd be great. His issue is, he can't let go of "what could have been." He's narcissistic.

I think the damage was vastly done prior to houston imo. He didnt adapt soon enough.

Exactly....most 12th men give it their all in practice. Give the starters a run for their $$. 12th men are humble. They listen to the coach, listen to veterans, and are happy to play the meager scraps they get.

But not this fool. I'll spare ripping into him, and just say that the guy can go count his $$. A hell of alot more than I'll ever make. I don't really care what he does.....or if he ever plays again. Just stay away from my Lakers. Go take your sh**-show to China. I think it'll play perfect there. They'll just be happy to have big American super-star.
