Kevin Durant Says Warriors Will Be 'Bay Area Legends' If They Three-Peat

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 12, 2018 7:06 am

Kevin Durant said he thinks about the significance and historical impact of the Warriors' legacy if they three-peat this season.

Speaking on Chris Haynes' podcast, Durant said "I know for a fact that we'll all get our jerseys retired. We'll probably all get statues here in front of the Chase Center. We'll be Bay Area legends forever, meaning that people will recognize this team and this run forever in this area. I think about 50 years from now when they have our whole team on the Chase Center floor, or wherever the arena is at that point, all the fans will be cheering for us and reminiscing on those days."

A free agent at the end of this season, Durant is averaging 28.8 points per game, his highest average since 2013.

For some of the wrong reasons, KD.

The statue must have the caveat that Durant joined an ready championship team that went 73-9 before he got there.. on a side note does not talking about a 3 peat seem like he is leaving otherwise why not a 4 or 5 peat?

he's not that clever, he's only thinking of NOW, like the rest of the team, which means they are focused on the 3peat.
nonetheless, he does seem to be talking about how great it is @gsw just a little too much more than necessary

LOL@Kevin Durant. All people will continue to think of is how weak it was to join a 73 win team that just knocked you out of the playoffs.

He's not wrong, be we all know what it is. He's padding up his Warriors legacy because he's definitely leaving GSW this offseason. He's not guaranteed to win a championship ever again when he leaves, so he has to live in the moment of this season. Durant just wants to make sure his jersey is retired in Golden State too, he wasn't in it for the long haul like the rest
He's definitely right though. 3-peat. 4 rings in 5 years. Steph's team will go down in history.

What if they then go on to win a 4th without KD? Can they unreturned #35 as not integral to the 3-peat.

They should put the Durant statue on wheels and then they can just roll it to whichever city wins the championship every year.

You expect KD to say "Not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven" Championships?

He is only thinking about this season, to be realistic.

He’ll get another if he joins Lebron in LA

It is their greatness and ability that ties the other teams' hands though. He shouldn't talk like that however.
