Chris Paul: James Harden Is 'Best Offensive Player I've Ever Seen'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Dec 18, 2018 7:38 am

After James Harden's 47-point performance in the Houston Rockets 102-97 win over the Utah Jazz, Chris Paul said that James Harden was the best offensive player he's "ever seen".

Paul added "I mean, seriously. He can drive. He can shoot. He’s got ball-handling. It’s going to be a tough night for whoever it is. I don’t care what you’re doing".

Harden has averaged 38.6 points, 7.6 assists, and 6.6 rebounds in his last five games.

Harden said he knows the reason for his scoring tear, but added that he "can’t tell you, though.”

Chris Paul isn't healthy. This is the reason for his offensive tear that he can't tell us about.

Everyone thinks Paul is old and done. Wait until you see him play when he's ready to go.

anyone would be the best offensive player if they didn't have to abide by the first rule to come out of basketball when it was created:

getting 37 FT attempts each game helps, too

Yes, they are just giving him fouls. He plays no part in getting fouls at all. Sounds right.

I don't get why so many people continuously diss on James Harden for no reason. He's probably the best player at drawing fouls ever, he's pretty much already solidified himself in the Hall of Fame with multiple MVP-type seasons. How bout we diss on someone like Klay Thompson for once? Everyone seems to be overrating his game all the time.

Harden is blessed to play in the current era - a truly gifted / crafty offensive player that understands how to stat pad ( kudos Westbrook on triple double binges ).

While the league has emphasized zero contact with offensive play - the league unfortunately has also turned a complete blind eye to traveling / carrying the ball / offensive fouls. Completely agree with Gregg Popovich that the game has completely lost its beauty - all 3pt shots / layups : no post play, defense is now allowed ( thanks NBA ), rewarding offensive stat padding ( Westbrook / Harden MVP ).

Applaud the NBA for eliminating rough defensive play, but it has gone overboard in completely giving free reign to offense & punishing defensive effort. Case in point, James Harden getting to the line sometimes more then the opposing team.

What is the remedy? A few suggestions - as players are getting more athletic they need to change court dimensions :

1) Widen and / or lengthen the NBA professional courts ( players are taller / more athletic / have wider wingspans today then before )
2) Add trapezoid box instead of rectangle for free throw area ( same as FIBA / international ) - competitive balance in rebounding within the paint / boxing out / reshaping the driving lane
3) Adding 4 point shot : http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25559428/the-4-point-line-just-beginning-nba-latest-trend

The pick and roll has destroyed the league. Allowing a constant barrage of illegal screens

Saint Popovich would love to have you forget his KL/TD championship teams relied mostly on high volume 3s

Yes. You are correct. He doesn't. He is a joke to basketball and the NBA. Embarrassment of an MVP. Basketball also has two sides to it. No one should be considered for MVP if they're more inept than Amare S.

The baseball HOF is now the baseball Hall of Mediocracy, so the NBA is trying to follow them. Dude has never played defense, and got MVP. A joke.
