Jimmy Butler has aggressively challenged Brett Brown on his role in the offense, according to sources.

Butler has been vocal in his contesting of Brown and his system, including a recent film session in Portland that some witnesses considered "disrespectful" and beyond normal player-coach discourse.

Brown has said he had no issues with the exchange.

There has been some concern over Butler's long-term viability and fit with the 76ers.

Brown remains a popular figure within ownership and management while Butler will enter free agency this offseason.

Rival teams believe Butler will eventually decide to take meetings with interested suitors in July.

I mean I don't doubt that happens to some extent. But this is in line with Jimmy's behavior on every team he's been on.

I suppose someone will line up to throw money at Butler in the off season, but he is almost starting to get the Carmelo Anthony stench on him now. Supremely talented, but a royal pain in the ass who drags down the ability of the players around him and is a Complete pain in the ass and a prima donna and coach killer in the locker room. But look how long it took teams to wise to to Melo, so maybe he can get away with it.

Phili have almost ruined this potential championship era. Miss Porzingis for Okafor, miss Tatum for Fultz. And then shred all of their shooting around Simmons/Embiid. Saric gone, Covington gone, Bellinelli, Ilyasova. Not to mention Butler is a terrible fit, and not a great shooter/off ball player.

Article seems like a cheap shot although based in truth. Portraying Simmons as a stat hungry dude that would take off Jo’s face for a triple double. Might be true but why try to throw shade at multiple players? Probably the work of the agents assistant as too poorly done.

Coach Brown is a very easy to get along with dude. If Butler cant make it work with him, then he has real issues. Having said that this is probably much ado about nothing.
Butler can take meetings with other suitors in July, and the Sixers can also meet with Kawhi, Durant and Klay Thompson. All better players and fits for the Sixers IMO. And I like Jimmy a lot but just being real.

Rumor was Celtics did not trade for Jimmy because they feared he would not get along with Hayward. Looks like they made the right choice - this guy is a head case. Played his way out of CHI, MIN, and possibly now PHI.

Jimmy Butler has masterfully done what very few players have ever done in the league - systematically force himself into the very best situation & eventual land spot.

With Butlers recent ( & not surprising antics ), the Sixers are in a very precarious situation - the can risk losing Butler for nothing this offseason to free agency ( where he will surely be offered a max contract ) .... resign him at the risk of alienating their young cornerstones in Simmons / Embiid ... or trade him for quality assets that truly compliment Embiid / Simmons.
