Rockets Still Looking To Trade Carmelo Anthony

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jan 19, 2019 10:17 pm

The Houston Rockets continue to pursue trades for Carmelo Anthony and have no intention on waiving the forward.

Looking to sign Kenneth Faried once he clears waivers, the Rockets are expected to release the recently-signed James Nunnally to make room on their roster.

Crazy. D’Antoni’s revenge knows no limits.

He’s making $2 mill on one year. That contract isn’t worth anything except salary filler. You aren’t using him, you need a roster spot opened up, so waive him. Some team claims him off waivers and you are free of the $2 mill. Worse case is he clears waivers and you owe his salary but isn’t his contract the vet minimum, which the league pays, anyway? It doesn’t make sense. The only answer is someone has a hate-on for Melo.

I can only see him as filler in a deal moving Knight for someone more useful. Maybe someone on a longer or bigger deal. Question is can Knight still play at all?

People rather just say Melo can’t play.

Melo needs to release a new IG workout video where all his shots go in.. whilst wearing a hoodie.

That should be enough to fool a couple of GM to trade for him

The Rockets should either release him or play him. Holding onto him until the trade deadline in the off chance that they can use his salary for a trade match is ridiculous.

Very disrespectful.

D'Antoni: Melo, are you sure you're willing to do anything to be here.

Melo: Sure coach.

Melo: . . . . goddamn.

Look, the hate for Carmelo is real. He crippled an otherwise awful Knicks team with his shenanigans. But, let's face Dantoni is not responsible for the Rockets holding on to Melo. Morrey and the FO got the final say, and WILL be teams foolish enough into thinking Melo at a pro-rated 2million can help them. It's not sinister on their part, it's savvy business.

It’s $2 mill of their salary cap! That’s like you hanging onto a $5 bill, just in case someone wants it. Sure it’s a nice looking $5 bill, but it’s chump change. Really, who or what are they waiting for in return?

Just cut the guy loose and let him go. If you aren’t going to use him, after telling him you were, then man up and let the dude go.

Not if... that same $5 bill could net you an asset worth more than the face value on the bill. The value Carmelo has to the Rockets is the potential to bring in something worth more... just look what happened to Danuel House. They sent him packing rather than bring him in... clearly the Rockets FO is looking to cash in if possible

If Melo wanted to get released outright, he could. He's voluntarily not in Houston right now. If he showed up to practice and sat on the bench and got in a couple young players' ears, he would be gone immediately. He could also file a grievance w/ the players association or go on mic w/ the media. He hasn't done any of this so obviously mutual decision b/w Melo and Rockets

Most playoff teams discussed Melo already and decided that he hurts the team with no defense and ball movement. He doesn't want to play backup role to fit his dwindling skill set. A playoff team would have to have an injury and be desperate to take Melo in trade and even then they could find someone else better. The Rockets would take a heavily protected 2nd round pick to do the deal and save lux tax. May as well wait until they release after the deadline, but I doubt anyone is "waiting." Maybe China. How do you say, "I have to be a starter" in Chinese haha?

Oh this has D'Antoni written ALL OVER IT! He's the reason this prematurely took place to begin with, not that Melo made it hard for him to do it but I believe D'Antoni had this vision all along. #Revenge
