Pelicans Not Impressed With Lakers' Initial Trade Offers For Anthony Davis

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Feb 2, 2019 7:52 am

The New Orleans Pelicans are unimpressed by the Los Angeles Lakers' initial trade proposals for Anthony Davis, including their first offer of Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, and a 1st-round pick.

The Lakers have included just two of their top young players and only one 1st-round pick in each trade proposal.

Pelicans' management has yet to consider any of the Lakers' offers worthy of a response or a counteroffer.

IF it goes down, I think it will be for Ingram, Lonzo, Kuzma and two first round picks

Well, the Lakers are not that stupid to give all 3. Every day that passes the Lakers youngsters are more valuable. Just look at Randle (now a 20-10 players) and Russell (nearly 20 ppg, 6 ast and now an allstar).
Kuzma is averaging 19 ppg, and Ingram without Lebron is a 20 ppg scorer. I would give 2 of them, but not all 3. Not worth it, IMO.

I think that package might be a bit steep indeed, but the way the situation is playing out and Lebron being who he is I think LA ends up overpaying

Lakers would be happy to get that done.

lol WHAT A SURPRISE

What team are they listening too this time?

Lakers need to just trade everyone Except Bron...

Wait until we/la get AD ...

Then Pick up Kyrie in FA ...

Wait until AD/Kyrie both on the books

Then Trade Lebum/queen for KL ...

Roll with ... AD, KL, Kyrie and a bunch of g-leagues until you get decent role players...

Who says no to that???

And b4 you say no NO won't trade too LA

I'm in b4 we see article ... NO Caves and trades AD to LA for blah blah lbha.

Why would you trade LeBron for KL ?
Why not sign KL in the off season...

Trade LeBron for the roster fillers

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then after reading this after few drinks, yes I'd do that... I wonder if KL would want to play with AD/Kyrie? though?

Lakers will be like when Lebron went to Miami, a couple of stars and a lot of journeyman

Yeah but say it is AD Kawhi and Lebron that is 3 top 5 players that's better than Miami team.. Depth will be an issue and GSW will be way more stacked if they keep KD but if KD leaves the Lakers will be favourites by a mile.. Melo will play with them too haha..

Kuzma defense is torrid, and Ingram is a negative player by advanced metrics. Lonzo is the only one positive and his lack of shooting makes hard to build a team around him. The firsts would late 1st. I would prefer a young veteran to pair with Jrue.

i've heard nothing to indicate Kawhi wants to play with LeBron, so looks like LeBron will only get AD, and that's not enough to hurt GS
and even AD hasn't had much impact in New Orleans, has great numbers but can't win....Rondo had more impact in New Orleans than AD....
and Melo will hurt their defense, and that's really bad when you play GS.

How are these “reporters” getting ahold of these supposed offers? Aren’t negotiations between GMs confidential? Are these “reporters” listening outside the room while these guys are on conference call?

While I don’t agree that Kuzma and Ingram are of scrub status, I completely agree with this sentiment. Trying to use former players who are now *thriving on different teams* as a reason why your current players have ever-increasing value is absolutely ridiculous.

The opposite is true. Ball and Ingram were both more valuable the day they were drafted. I understand they're still young but Ingram has a PER of 12.86 and Ball has a PER of 11.98... For two guys who were drafted #2 overall, they are looking like busts.

Out of 495 qualified players, Brandon Ingram ranks 444th in Value Over Replacement. Neither player cracks the top 150 for win shares. In True Shooting Percentage Ingram is 264th and Ball is 399th. There are a lot of metrics that show they simply aren't good basketball players right now.

you pretty much know what you have with Ball, Ingram, and Kuzma. while terrific players, they are not turning into super stars and are replaceable. Davis is in that super star class. if that's what it takes to get Davis, they have to do it. that makes them title contenders for the next 3 years with Lebron, and the players will line up to sign with the Lakers. seems obvious to me. i just hope it doesn't happen as a Celts fan.
