Sixers Trade For Tobias Harris, Plan To Re-Sign Harris And Jimmy Butler To Create Big 4

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 6, 2019 7:49 am

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and Mike Scott to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers are sending back Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, a 2020 1st-round pick, an unprotected 1st-round pick in 2021 via Miami, and 2nd-round picks in 2021 and 2023.

The Sixers are also planning to re-sign both Harris and Jimmy Butler this summer to create a long-term Big 4 with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

Haha that's a panic move if I've ever seen one. Four picks and a young prospect for a guy you're gonna get 30 games out of before you have to pay him big money? AND Jimmy?

imo there goes the Sixers ever having a shot at title contention.

Thats Good for phillys chemistry
Marjanovic and tobias are both outgoing and positiv professionals
They gonna support and uplift embiid and butler during bad times ...
Especially if they plan to form a big4, on the long run those egos must make each other better

2nd round picks mean nothing, rich owners buy those picks for a couple of million.

Clippers will miss the playoffs thats for sure, one last reprieve for Lebron to get the 8th seed.
2 1sts is a nice return if you dont want to keep/resign him at a max contract though.

Perfect fit for the 76ers but maybe not enough points to go around so I see the big 4 only playing the start and the end of the game together and many combinations of a couple of these guys playing minutes (and scoring) with a thin bench.

As long as the owner does not mind ponying up the luxury tax this is a great move going forward.
The team is stacked and my 5/1 on the 76ers to win the east is looking quite nice about now

2nd Round picks do not mean nothing. The only team dumb enough to sell one the last few years was Jordan Bell by the Bulls.

2nd Round Picks mean a few expensive dinners to a rich owner.

The bulls sold pick 38 to the Warriors for 3.5m. Later picks sell cheaper.

1. you get your stars first
2. you lock in your closing 5 to finish games
3. you expand your depth (bench)

I would rather of waited for Bradley Beal than sign Harris they need depth too and your going to eat up all the flexibility with Simmons and Embiid that said LBJ should of signed here Sixers willing to go all out

All 4 of those guys would be East All-Stars if they were on a separate team. 2 already are, Butler might be if he didn't have the whole drama behind him, and Harris almost made in in the loaded west, would be definetely in in the east over quite a few guys.

So yeah, big 4 for sure

Ya, I'd have to agree, trading 3 guys who can hit the 3 for 1 guy who can hit the 3 when you're a team that has trouble with spacing isn't exactly the best deal overall.
After seeing this haul for Harris, WTF is NO going to get for Davis... I "thought" the Lakers offer was a lot already, but this deal probably moves that bar up a bit.

Sixers going all in. The picks don't mean much for them. Both are outside the lottery. Looks like they're the team to beat in the East now.

That is a lot to pay for someone who is going to be a UFA this summer.
