Marcus Smart: Celtics Struggle Because 'Nobody Is Together'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:49 pm

Marcus Smart blamed the Boston Celtics' recent losing streak on a lack of team cohesion, echoing a theme throughout the season.

"Nobody is together. We've got to have everybody on the same page doing the same things at the same time. What are the main ingredients to those collapses? Not being together. And that's it. We're just not together. Plain and simple," said Smart following their 118-95 loss to the Raptors.

The Celtics have lost 3 games in a row.

"I mean, that's Marcus' opinion. I respect it," said Kyrie Irving when told of Smart's comments.

"I mean, they gotta back up the Brinks truck to my swimming pool" said Kyrie when told the camera was no longer rolling.

Tommy might be able to play better D than half the team at this point.

Doesn't sound like they're even together on the second opinion

"The Celtics have lost 3 games in a row."
Make that 4 games in a row.

"I mean that's Marcus' opinion"
and
"I respect it"

mean the complete opposite to each other, Kyrie.

Seems like a power struggle. The playoff team from last year feel they almost made it to the finals without Kyrie and Hayward. I'd say let Kyrie go and trade Hayward for 50 cents on the dollar and build the young core since they were right there already.

Adding AD for what will likely be only a 1 year rental and trading away main pieces of the young core for it can backfire even more.

I agree but you ain't getting anything for Hayward right now.. His contract looks like an albatross.. He is currently a net negative

I picked this team to make it to the finals and so far it looks I'm going to be wrong. Their chemistry just hasn't come together, one would think if they add Irving, and Hayward to a team that made the eastern confrence finals then they would be better but that hasn't been the case. I think Smart is being smart on this issue, when he says "nobody is together" which then would point to the chemistry as being the main problem why they are struggling as a team.

Shhhh, don't tell 'em. Let 'em burn themselves down to the ground.
