First Round Of NBA Playoffs Most Profitable For Teams

The first round of the NBA Playoffs is more profitable for teams than any other round, possibly even the Finals, due to the retention of their local television and radio rights for those games.

In subsequent rounds, playoff games are exclusively aired on national television.

The Los Angeles Lakers, who are attempting to secure a playoff berth, are on a 20-year, $4 billion deal with Spectrum SportsNet in 2011.

Interesting. Raptors have only been as far as the Conference finals but even then our TV and Radio crew broadcasted those game. I assume it was the same case for other teams. Then again, I guess those feeds are considered nationally televised across Canada.

“Well the 1st round is most profitable so if we raise prices a little we can stay competitive. Since 1st round was so profitable we’re raising prices for the 2nd round”
