Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Lakers have mutual interest, according to a report from Peter Vecsey on his Patreon. Vecsey's report follows a suggestion from Stephen A. Smith that Rivers could be pursued by the Lakers. 

The Lakers are widely expected to fire Luke Walton at the end of the season.

"According to a confidant, he almost always has wanted to leash the Lakers," wrote Vecsey. "In conversations over the years, Doc frequently expressed an ardent ambition to coach either them, or the Knicks before retiring, if for no other motivation than their worldwide brands."

Rivers is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers through the 20-21 season after signing an extension in May of 2018.

this is classic Doc. HE is spreading these rumors himself I bet. Now that Clippers are overachieving, he wants a raise despite getting an extension less than a year ago.
He is a salesman and utilizes these tactics all the time.

I bet the Clippers could get a juicy first round pick for Rivers, I'd be all over that if I were the Clippers.

So, a reporter says that 'over the years' Doc has expressed interest in one day coaching the Lakers. From that, we get a headline reading "Doc and the Lakers Have Mutual Interest" ?

Irresponsible click-bait stuff. And now people are going to run with it.

Why even bother? An established coach like Doc doesn't need to take sh*t from LeBron. LeBron doesn't need a coach, he coaches his own damn self.

Just stay with the Clippers.

That could happen, Jerry West was in Golden State makes a ton of sense and I think the Clippers might end up with the better coach the next 5 years. Hell maybe the next 25.

Spo is the only coach that has survived Lebron. Though he tried his hardest to get rid of him too

Doc didn't throw this out there. This is a speculative response to a speculative comment made by the master of speculation, Stephen A "unknown source told me" Smith.
