Larry Drew, Cavaliers Mutually Agree To Part Ways

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Apr 11, 2019 10:15 pm

Larry Drew and the Cleveland Cavaliers have mutually agreed to part ways.

Drew’s current contract expired with the conclusion of the 18-19 season.

“We have great respect and appreciation for Larry and the job that he did as the head coach of the Cavaliers for nearly the entire 2018-19 campaign. He brought professionalism, class and steady leadership both this past season and prior four years,” said Koby Altman. “Larry and I had a productive discussion about this past season, the future of the franchise and the search process that we will shortly launch regarding the head coaching role. Larry respectfully declined to participate in the search process and will not be returning to coach the Cavaliers. All of us in Cleveland wish Larry nothing but the best going forward.”

Drew was named head coach of the Cavaliers on November 5 to replace Tyronn Lue.

Lol I had no idea he was even coaching the Cavs - that's how high profile their season has been #lebron?

3 NBA coaches canned in 1 day : Kings / Cavs / Grizzlies

3 dubious franchises

10% coaching unemployment right now in NBA ... and we haven't even started the playoffs!

Wish him the best of luck wherever he lands. I know he didn't want to be the head coach to when he was initially forced into the role to begin with but he kept his mouth shut and did his job like a professional should until the appropriate time to bow out came.
