Michael Avenatti allegedly embezzled $2.5 million to pay for a share of a private jet from a settlement he negotiated for the former girlfriend of Hassan Whiteside.

Whiteside and Gardner agreed to a $3 million settlement to reflect, in their words, “[Gardner’s] investment of time and support over a number of years as Hassan pursued a career in the NBA.”

The plan was for Whiteside to pay $2.75 million later that month, and for the final $250,000 to come in 2020. Avenatti's fee was supposed to be approximately $1 million.

Avenatti hid the scheme by never giving Gardner a copy of the settlement. Avenatti paid Gardner a total of $194,000 over 11 months and then lied about Whiteside not holding up his end of the agreement.

Where did you do your math settlement was for 3 mill Avanatii 1 mill that's 33.3% still huge she should have received 1.75 mill and then 250,000..

3M Settlement - only 2.75 paid so far...less 1M for his legit fee = 1.75M that should went to the woman.

Avanati only gave her 200K - so he pocketed 1.55M of her share. 1.55 is 90% of 1.75. That’s why I said he stole 90% of the money she was supposed to get so far.

I assume the woman will get the $250K that comes later.

That was my math. Maybe I stated it poorly, but regardless this dude sounds like scum. I hope they seize that plane and recover the money.

No, it isn't. Someday you'll figure out that there's a ton of corruption in our government, and it isn't just democrats or just republicans. It's people who are unable to handle prestige and power who are given prestige and power. Regardless of what party you vote for they're not your friends, and they don't care about you. It's all about pretending they care about what's right to win your vote and blame all the problems they themselves are causing on the other guys.
