Allen Crabbe Exercises $18.5M Player Option For 19-20 With Nets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 3, 2019 1:27 pm

Allen Crabbe has exercised his $18.5 million player option for the 19-20 season with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets signed Crabbe to a four-year, $75 million offer sheet in 2016, which was subsequently matched by the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland then traded Crabbe to the Nets during the 2017 offseason for cap relief.

Crabbe will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

I cannot wait for this dude to come off the books..as a Nets fan the only way I wouldn't be AS upset is if he averages >14 points per game on 45/40/90 shooting for 82 games.

Hey, at least he exercised the option well before the draft.

Now, I would expect Sean Marks to use one of the 2 1sts to offload Crabbe's contract, and ensure we have enough space to keep Davis' cap hold and still sign a full-max guy. I'm *hoping* we can attach the DEN1st to him for a partially guaranteed contract like JR Smith.

They don't need to trade a pick if they chose to move him he's an expiring contract. If They've traded away scrubs like Mozgov without adding a pick they don't need to now.
Even if they keep him he's a good defender. There's no rush to trade the player he's just overpaid but it's only for a year. That pick could be a good player.
