Kyle Lowry Compares Kawhi Leonard's Dominance To Yao Ming

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 6, 2019 6:05 am

Kyle Lowry said that he's only seen Yao Ming dominate a game like Kawhi Leonard following Leonard's 39-point, 14-rebound performance to tie the Eastern Conference semifinals at 2.

"Kawhi is dominant, just dominant. I've only played with one other guy like that, Yao Ming, where when he got it rolling, you can't stop him. Kawhi has been doing this for a month," said Lowry.

Leonard is the first player in NBA playoff history to average 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists with an effective field goal percentage higher than 65.

Brett Brown compared Leonard's shot-making ability to Kobe Bryant.

"The stuff that he can get off -- and we had two people out there -- the stuff that he can do to create his own shot is Kobe-like," said Brown.

He said teammate or "guy I've ever played with"

Lol what about T-Mac and Pau Gasol?

Isn’t this also a shot at DeRozan since “scoring” is what DeRozan is known for?

Tmac and pau? What're you talking about. Also DeRozan isn't near Kawhi tier. Levels to this.

How is pointing out that somebody is clearly superior to DeMar Derozan taking a shot at him?

TMac scored 15 ppg in 35 games as Lowry’s teammate so I doubt that is a correct answer here.

Raptors is lucky to have KL.
If DD is still with the team, they would have been down 3-1 at this point.

Tell me in one way T-Mac or Pau even came close to Yao when Kyle played with them. And you know Yao is a hall of famer right? You think Derozan will be a hall of famer?

And Ming scores like 18ppg in those 35 games.

His high during that stretch was 31 points on March 18th vs Detroit.

Idk it's just sorta a weird comment. Kawhi has been far better than Ming ever was, especially during last bit of that '09 season.

Lowry never played with Tmac. But yeah that was a little weird. I guess Yao made a lasting impression on him.

Lowry played 6 games with a crippled TMac at the start of the 2009-10 season. TMac never eclipsed 10 minutes in any single game they played together

His memories or Ming are odd because he wasn’t even near his peak when they were teammates.

Ah I missed the 09-10 season. But yeah that was nothing.

I wouldn't say it was too far off his his peak. He was still all-star level at around 20 ppg and 60% TS. But obviously that Yao or peak Yao doesn't compare to current Kawhi. It could've just been a game or two that stuck with him. Looks like a week after Lowry was traded to Houston Yao had an awesome game in a blowout against #1 Cleveland.
