Kevin Durant: I Can't Be Recruited

The free agency of Kevin Durant has been a storyline throughout the 18-19 season. Some of Durant's peers from teams with cap space this offseason have plotted how to pitch Durant.

Durant learned of these inquiries and spoke to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports on the issue.

“I can’t be recruited,” Durant said last week. “Write that.”

It is not yet known how the probable Achilles tear Durant suffered in Game 5 will impact his free agency plans.

He's just trolling at this point, right?

Says the guy who openly admitted Draymond recruited him and complimented the Clippers on how good their recruiting pitch was the last time he was a free agent?

It came with people being mad at his GSW move. He went on Bill Simmons and PMT pods, you should listen. He goes off on "blog boys" and has this cold attitude towards the media (and fans) in general now. More of a "I don't owe you anything" attitude, whereas in OKC he was committed to being the "Good guy"

The GSW will loose game 6. Kevin Durant will accept his $31.5 million player option thus putting the the Warriors $10 million over the salary cap. Dubs could use bird rights to sign Klay Thompson to max but would be massive penalty. Thompson will be a Laker, Clipper, Knick, or Net

Lacob would pay whatever he needs to pay. He's not going into next season with just Steph and Draymond. The Warriors are making huge amounts of money here.

Actually I can answer that. His persona seemed to change shortly after he did those Kevin is a nice guy commercials.

It was as though he misunderstood the premise of the running joke of his own commercials, and felt the need to prove from there on out that he wasn't. Perhaps he bought into the notion that nice is bad or weak right after being "accused" of being nice. Either way, I observed the change to his persona right around then and ever since.

Not sure if you were asking rhetorically but that question actually does have an answer.

I was going to say the same thing. This guy is becoming a giant douchebag, and it is going to make it hard for anybody to feel sorry for his ass.
He needs to hire an agent who will take his phone from him and tell him to STFU in the media, because he's to stupid to not say anything....stupid.

What does the past have to do with his statement? And further what does complimenting someone's recruiting attempt have to do with it? He didn't say he's never been recruited. And complimenting doesn't mean it had an impact on his decision.

Man people just talk trash about everything related to KD or the Warriors. People are so bitter

Kevin Durant proved something to me.....HE IS A TEAM PLAYER!....no question in my mind...And his teammates respect him for it...He chose to play, knowing full well that he was vulnerable to sustaining further injury...But because his team needed him, he was out there trying his best.... That right there folks is shades of old times where guys would suck it up and play hurt....I suspect he will now resign with Golden State.... And If he does, he will have set the selfish, self centered world of the NBA divas on it's ear! You can bet that KD will be on the bench to offer morale support for the remainder of the finals... Book it!....And if for any reason, he is not resigned in Oakland....He has a home awaiting him here in Boston...He' has that Celtic DNA...He will be welcomed with open arms! But if he remains with the dubs, IMO it will be good for basketball... All the more power to him!....He has earned this old man's respect...And BTW Kevin Looney... My same feeling about being a team player also goes for you... i hope you can return to help your team!

Today, I'm pleased to announce that there's still hope for the future of the sport! :)

That question was not rhetorical at all. Thank you for your perspective. I just remember him being a humble guy, constantly praising his teammates. Now he acts like he’s always a victim of something, Unhappy despite winning titles. I wouldn’t expect anyone to be unicorns and rainbows all the time but he’s CONSTANTLY mad.

Bleh.. so basically can’t take criticism. Well being on a dynasty should be enough for him but I guess not. Can you imagine if he was on a bad team?

First off, I am truly sorry he got hurt. As a basketball fan I never want any player to get hurt.

Now, team player or sell out. Sorry, I don't buy it. KD did decide to play only so he can play the "hero" and show the naysayers that GS need him, he doesn't need them. From reports and people seeing him practice on Sunday he was questionable and likely out for game 5. Instead he comes back and has no minute restrictions, even though he was having lots of pain around the achilles. That doesn't make sense to me.

Can you imagine how much the media would have eaten that up if KD came back, played the rest of the series and helped GS win the championship after being down 3-1?

If he was a team player he would have taken responsibility of the OKC vs. GS series as being his fault that they lost and reupped with them to run it back.

He chose the easy route to a championship which was to sign with the heavy favorites who won 73 games, were 1 game from repeating as champions and were already stacked.

No other player in the "Goat" conversations has done that in their primes. LBJ didn't go join the 2 time champion Lakers in the summer of 2010. He joined a struggling team in Miami who had their own struggles at the start even with Wade and Bosh. He also chose to join his best friend and move to Miami for his family, so more than just basketball reasons.

KD has also been on the defensive ever since he joined GS. Why? If you believe in your talents and you are truly happy with your choice to join GS and win championships then just do you and let your game do the talking.

he didn't prove that to you when he allowed westbrick to take more shots w/o bitching?

He chose to play, knowing full well that he was vulnerable to sustaining further injury

if he thought there was even a 5% chance of a torn ACL by playing in the finals he would not have done so

I do hope that people recognize that, if the warriors win the title, it very likely wouldn't have happened w/o those 12 minutes from durant

Now, team player or sell out. Sorry, I don't buy it.

a sell out is someone who trades integrity for money. that has not happened here. nor is it remotely accurate to label Durant as such given that he has signed contracts for less than he is worth

That doesn't make sense to me.

he was cleared by the medical staff. any player w/ half a heart who was cleared to play DURING THE FINALS would play

Can you imagine how much the media would have eaten that up if KD came back, played the rest of the series and helped GS win the championship after being down 3-1?

if they do win it, he was part of the reason

If he was a team player he would have taken responsibility of the OKC vs. GS series as being his fault that they lost and reupped with them to run it back.

that's like saying that if you take a new job you're not a team player

He chose the easy route to a championship which was to sign with the heavy favorites who won 73 games, were 1 game from repeating as champions and were already stacked.

that he did. and he's been rightfully and endlessly criticized for it. but it has no place in this conversation

LBJ didn't go join the 2 time champion Lakers in the summer of 2010. He joined a struggling team in Miami

LeBron is the OG of taking the easy route to titles. Durant just took it a step further
