Knicks Reject Hawks' Offer Of No. 8, No. 10 For No. 3, Pelicans Considering It For No. 4

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jun 18, 2019 6:12 pm

The New York Knicks have rejected an offer from the Atlanta Hawks in which they would exchange the No. 3 pick for Nos. 8 and 10.

The Knicks were not interested in moving down for just those two picks.

RJ Barrett has been projected as the likely No. 3 pick.

The New Orleans Pelicans, however, are considering the possibility of trading the No. 4 pick to Atlanta for Nos. 8 and 10. The Pelicans have also received interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. Those three teams have Darius Garland in mind.

So the Hawks can't trade two lottery picks for #3 in the draft and the Lakers supposedly "overpaid" for AD with three picks. Picks aren't worth much but stars are worth a lot.

You know that point is totally incoherent right? Yes, the Hawks can't trade two lotto picks...but that's for the exact lotto pick the Pelicans got for AD. Seems like that would show that particular pick is extremely valuable.

Makes sense. The Pelicans would like to pair Zion with RJ again and the Knicks aren't necessarily sold on RJ Barrett.
They can get Jrue or Ingram and the 4th pick for whatever other player they're considering drafting

Top 3, maybe top 5 picks are valuable, generally speaking there's not a lot of value for picks below that. My point is that Stars are worth much more than 3-4 random first round picks... And not just random picks even top 10 picks

Picks are worth a lot, especially to small market teams. Picks are what gets trades done

If they can get Ingram + 4th I’d be all over that but depends what else the NYK would have to move

Lol. Like ATL would even consider that garbage offer, it would cost much more than #4
