The Houston Rockets plan on pursuing Jimmy Butler in free agency.

The Rockets will need to clear significant cap space in order to sign Butler to a max contract by trading away Chris Paul and one of Clint Capela or Eric Gordon.

Houston previously pursued Butler during the early part of the 18-19 season following his trade request from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Exactly. That’s-A-Morey is a buffoon if he thinks he can clear that kind of cap room. He just signed both Capela/Paul to major contract extensions. So unless he gives these guys away he’s not getting anyone that will he signing a max contract this offseason. Who would even take CP3 and his owed $$$ without giving back just as bad of a contract for at least one season if not two

The real problem is having a Dominate PG and a Dominate Scorer.

Having 2 scorers works.

For Philly a sign and trade of Butler makes sense if he won't stay if you get back Eric Gordan and Capela.. You Keep Gordan and try to flip Capela for some shooters or picks.. or a bit of both.. CP3 would also be possible but you would need some assests back probably include Gordan in the trade and some first round picks..

I doubt he could do it but would be worth it..
