Cavaliers Preferred De'Andre Hunter Over Darius Garland

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jun 21, 2019 6:18 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers preferred to take De'Andre Hunter over Darius Garland in the draft, league sources tell Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

The New Orleans Pelicans traded out of No. 4 to the Atlanta Hawks, who selected Hunter and left Cleveland with Garland at No. 5.

The Cavaliers selected another point guard last year in the lottery as well in Collin Sexton.

Garland has star potential IMO. Taking Garland over Hunter may end up working out for Cleveland. Hunter is already 21 and probably has pretty much reached his ceiling. He's your typical 3&D guy which isn't bad at all. Every team needs a guy like Hunter. He will be a good fit in Atlanta next to a star-caliber guy in Trae Young. The draft worked out for both players IMO.

He's an older prospect is what I mean. By the time his rookie contract is up he will be around 24-25 ish.
