Wizards Will Decline Team Option For Jabari Parker

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 23, 2019 3:37 pm

The Washington Wizards will reportedly decline the 2019-20 team option for Jabari Parker, sources told Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.

The 24-year-old Parker will become an unrestricted free agent, though there is mutual interest from both the Wizards and Parker for him to return to the team next season.

Parker was traded to the Wizards in February. He averaged 15 points and 7.2 rebounds in 25 games for his new team.

Would be a good pick up for the knicks for the right price to play at the 4.

Surprised by this. I thought he actually played ok with them but at the same time they don’t have a lot of cap flexibility and he’s not the greatest defender although he did show improvement. He could be useful depending on where he lands.

He averaged nearly 20/10/4 Per36 and shot over 52% in WAS. Someone will overpay him and regret it later. WAS certainly doesn't want to pay him $20M just to get fewer lottery balls.

If he signs with Utah, the Jazz will be my favorite team.

He is worth the MLE. I think he should sign a 1+1 with Boston because Brad Stevens will make him a star

He is still defensive liability and his knee history wont bring him another big contract anytime soon... maybe in 2-3years,if he can stay on the floor and improve on D..

All of what you say is true... but I think you are underestimating the stupidity of teams. He's only 24 and GM's love upside and potential! All he did last season was show that he still had both. You cant judge a player by his value to you or your team. You must judge him by his value to the most desperate team.
