Danny Green To Sign Two-Year Deal With Lakers

Danny Green announced on Instagram that he will be signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The deal is worth $30 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Green turned 32 years old in June.

I thought M Morris was gonna be on the Lakers for sure. Weird that they haven't signed him. He's a Rich Paul client, dudes like Barnes(got what 18 mils), Joseph(9mils), Dedmon(9 mils), Ariza(12 mils?), and Morris had a better season than all of them last year.

Yea i thought too... he deserved at least 10m/year but Lakers dont have that money anymore (what left? kcp have bird rights, so probably 7 top?). He can defend, he can shoots 3, he can start and move kuzma to bench. Weird. And give Lakers a depth.

But what team have a cap space? Only Dallas? So maybe Lakers have still a shot... and give him 1year contract and pay more after season (more money after Deng stretched).

In other way Markieff Morris got only 7,4 mln/2year. He was better once, but have bad last season. Marcus played much better lately, maybe 14mln/2years would be enough...

Bam. Lakers overpay

Basically punting on next years FA classand waiting on 2021. While having him as a possible trade filler if that is needed when the next star wants to be traded.

I don’t blame Danny. With the amount of BS players need to deal with the Lakers, as well as from time to time be thrown under the bus by LeBron Inc, he deserves to get a bigger than normal contract.

It is a toxic environment tax.

Danny can still be extremely efficient next to James. Plus he can defend. In fact, he will probably have a stellar year. How much is guaranteed in the second year?

The Lakers now have two players I like. LeBron (oh the horror! right?) and Green. Although I have no proper reason to hate the clips (their fans are for the most part nice enough around here) I'm going to root for lbj next year.

Career 40% 3 point shooter and a top 15 or so defensive wing for 15 a year is well in line with the market. If he weren't 32 based on his play last year he likely would have gotten more.

danny green and lebron reunite back in cavs days and pretty sure lebron still remember how danny green almost cost his 2nd ring during spurs-heat series 2013 with that monster 3 point performance

He’s smart. He knew if Kawhi went to one LA team then the other team would have a bunch of money and no real free agents to spend it on. If Kawhi went back to the Raptors then they had his bird rights and could pay him. Smart move to wait.

Same reason the KCP overpay is no surprise. Together their contracts add up for some decent trade ballast.

Lakers is a good spot for him both on and off the court, and as a Raps fan I'm glad they didn't pony up that kind of contract for him cause he's not worth that playing for us but is worth that for Lakers.
