The New York Knicks were hesitant to include Mitchell Robinson in trade negotiations with the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.
"In talking about how important he is to this club, I was told that one player that was mostly off-limits in those Anthony Davis trade talks was Mitchell Robinson. That just tells you how important the Knicks feel he is to their future," said Begly in a television appearance for SNY.
The NY Post had reported that the Knicks never made a formal offer for Davis.
Robinson averaged 7.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in his rookie season for the Knicks.

Knick spin machine is in overtime this offseason.
If Mitch was “mostly off-limits” and the #3 pick wasn’t in play, then the Knick front office was just wasting David Griffin’s time by talking to him.
I know they have to play PR to protect the guys they kept and say “we didn’t get passed over by KD, we didn’t offer him a contract”, but it just seems so bush league for a supposed marquee NBA franchise to keep leaking stuff like this.

The Lakers scouts/picking abilities have sucked for a while now to say the least. No surprise there.

I would disagree and say the Lakers scouting has probably been the only good thing the last couple of years

Most of the mock drafts had him listed as going in the first round. Looks like they did a better job evaluating than actual front offices.

I was honestly thinking how crazy it is that NYK got him in the second round when the rumors all leading up to the draft was LAL gave him a first round guarantee and he wouldn’t practice for any teams.

Money Mitch was the steal of the draft and will revolutionize the center position from a defensive standpoint. I would bet in a couple of years he will have more blocked 3 point attempts than all centers combined ever! His contract is also super team friendly the kid will be an allstar in 2 years show him loyalty from day 1!

Watching Mitchell Robinson move around the court was like when I first saw Rudy gobert when he was the 3rd string center on the jazz.
The dude just had it physically, and I couldn’t figure out why others didn’t see it.

i agree. i think he's greater than gobert. my problem with him is that he's often lazy and looks for the BIG block. in SL he would block obvious goaltends, set half-assed screens.
if he's roped in and disciplined, he'll be fine. but if he's allowed to do whatever he wants, he may turn into a larry sanders 2.0.
i just hope the knicks don't ruin this unique talent.

I loved that in the summer league vs Zion, Mitchell Robinson jumped out and blocked a Zion 3 point attempt.
Probably really surprised Zion. Because Mitchel is probably the best at blocking 3 point attempts I have ever seen. He also has the best 2nd jump I have ever seen. He launches himself back into the air while everyone else is still gathering.
Knicks have no pressure. He can play through his mistakes for a couple years
