Tobias Harris: Sixers Are 'For Sure At The Top Of The East'

Tobias Harris discussed his expectations for the Philadelphia 76ers this season, saying that he expects the team to least the East.

"We're for sure at the top in the East...I feel like we got some really good guys and professionals. Our goal is to be at the top...That's where we want to be. That's what I'm going to say and that's what I believe," said Harris.

Harris signed a five-year, $180 million deal with the Sixers this offseason.

The team also added Al Horford and Josh Richardson.

Harris added that there will be stiff competition in the Eastern Conference next season.

"I love the NBA. I love how it's balanced. I love how everyone wants to give their shot. I think the East - there's a lot of talk about the West - but I think the East is equally having a lot of great teams and players.

Kinda like Vince Young calling 2011 Philadelphia Eagles the “Dream Team” only to end up missing the playoffs. There’s some bad juju whenever Philly teams get too cocky so I’d be careful lol

So Eagles missed the playoffs and that means Sixers must miss the playoffs too, oh ok :wink:

Lol. I dont know why players make statements like this. There is literally no upside. Best case scenario, the reality MATCHES your expectation but likely (just from a pure numbers standpoint) you will fall short.

If he just said "we have that potential, another year together, etc....so I like our chances" then there IS upside because its his opinion and hypothetically if they do fall short, Tobias doesn't look like an idiot.

Alot rides on the further development of Simmons and the health of their frontcourt but Harris has to step up his game this year and be a 24/8/3 guy and be consistent in playoffs.

What is he supposed to say? That they suck and feel like a fringe playoff team? I'm sure the answer was provoked and besides there aren't a lot of people disagreeing that they're at the top. Right now it's the Bucks and Sixers before the season starts.

76ers and Bucks are the current teams to beat in the East. You add the Nets in when KD is healthy & back in form.

I think Simmons growth as a player is going to decide whether they win it all or not. Currently, Teams can gameplan around his lack of shooting.

How many teams had losing records in the east and still made the playoffs? The east is a joke. So, he's right, they should be the best team after Boston's mass exodus.
