RealGM Radio: Matt Moore on NBA Tiers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jul 21, 2019 8:27 pm

Host Danny Leroux (@DannyLeroux) and Matt Moore of The Action Network (@HPBasketball) lay out their tiers for the entire NBA.

They discuss which teams are title contenders and where to draw the lines, who appear to be likely playoff squads, the comparative lack of truly awful rosters and much more.

Good review but I think you missed a couple key items on the Kings:
1) Roster turnover
Out: WCS, Mason, Koufos, Jackson, Brewer, Shumpert

In: Dedmon, Barnes, Ariza, Joseph, Holmes, Lydon

I think the Kings get deeper and significantly better defensively with the new group of players

2) WCS versus Dedmon
Dedmon may by advanced stats not be a much better player but the fit with Fox and Bagley is much better. The Clippers would crush the Kings by putting Boban as a goal keeper on defense because WCS had no outside shot. Same with Jazz.

Dedmon’s 3 point shot has to be respected which will open up space for Bagley and Fox to attack the basket. Bagley and WCS were unplayable together and with more minutes and space I suspect a big jump from Bagley.
