Wizards To Offer Bradley Beal Three-Year, $111M Extension

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:55 pm

The Washington Wizards plan on offering Bradley Beal a three-year, $111 million max contract extension.

"At the very first moment allowed, we are going to offer Brad the full max extension," Tommy Sheppard told ESPN.

Beal has until Oct. 21st to sign the extension, which he will consider.

"There are moments in a career where there are big decisions to make, and Brad will work through everything and figure out the right thing to do," agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN. "There are nothing but great feelings for Ted [Leonsis], Tommy and Scott [Brooks]. They've treated Brad wonderfully."

He shouldn't sign it. If he makes an all-nba team next year, which is pretty likely, he will be eligible to sign a 5-year $254m extension in the summer of 2020. Wizards FO obviously know that and hoping that they will only have to pay him $37m a year while he is at his prime instead of $51m.

You don’t make all nba teams when your team doesn’t make it to the playoffs

Only if your name is Kemba. Pure garbage that he made the 3rd team over Klay

Part of the problem with the current system. People felt bad not voting for Kemba because of the salary implications. It swayed the vote. That said, lots of players have made All-NBA while watching the playoffs from home.

tough call. Certainly his name and rep speak for themselves... but all players, okay most anyway, are one injury away from obsolescence. Sign now and get the loot. Sign later and get almost double the loot. If he doesn't go all out, he doesn't risk injury; tho he'll lower his chances of making allNBA that way, too

That seems like a weak extension offer. Doubt Beal signs it.

There really is no incentive for Beal to sign this. If he waits to 2021, he can get paid 4 years, close to $160 million on open market and with Wall hurt, there is a chance he can make All-NBA 3rd team and leverage getting supermax.

I still think he gets traded next summer in similar context to what happened with Paul George this summer.

2 out of 15 were players from teams that didnt make the playoffs. That's not insignificant.
