Team USA Loses 10-Minute Scrimmage To Select Team By 21

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Aug 15, 2019 12:36 am

Team USA lost to the Select Team twice during 10-minute scrimmages on Wednesday. The Select Team is largely comprised of G League players who helped the United States qualify for the World Cup.

The first loss was by three points with the second loss in front of media ending at 38-17.

With many top players dropping from the World Cup team, there have been concerns about the quality of the roster.

The Select Team is coached by Jeff Van Gundy.

While the result isn't encouraging the playing fields aren't necessarily leveled yet.
That team coached by Van Gundy has chemistry and played quite a bit together over the last few years.

Kemba Walker

why bother?

This roster is horrendous, nothing against any of these guys but this is not a good roster at all to compete against the best in the world.

Does it really matter, most NBA teams can play from behind by 21 and still win 10 minutes is 38 minutes until the end of the game.

JVG has coached the national team since '17. If you listen to interviews of him talking about his role/ coaching it is more than apparent the guy takes the job very seriously. His scouting of opposing teams' strengths and weakness is incredible.

Hard to believe there are so many teams mired in mediocrity and none of them willing to give JVG another shot.

Thanks. He's one of my favorites.
