Ten Members, Two Teams Inducted Into NBA Hall Of Fame For 2019

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Sep 7, 2019 6:50 am

The NBA inducted 10 members into the Hall of Fame for the class of 2019

The group featured a range of figures from NBA, WNBA, and international game, including: Al Attles, Carl Braun, Charles Cooper, Vlade Divac, Bobby Jones, Sidney Moncrief, Jack Sikma, Teresa Weatherspoon, Bill Fitch, and Paul Westphal.

The NBA also recognized two teams. Tennessee A&I's roster from 1957-59, a historically black college that won three straight NAIA titles, was included in the ceremony.

Hutcherson Flying Queens from Wayland Baptist, the first school to offer women's basketball scholarships, were also recognized.

I think the list of people who aren't being inducted is actually smaller than those who are.

There is no NBA hall of fame.

Moncrief was a stud and totally deserving, Bobby Jones, Vlade, & Jack Sikma were all very good players who made a few All-star teams, but not Hall-of-Famers. Should only be for the greats, not the very goods.

This is the basket ball hall of fame. Not the NBA Hall of fame. So for players like Vlade whose stats does not stand out, Vlade was one of the first and recognizable European players to ever cross over to the NBA and paving the way for all international players today.

And the Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments of players in International games etc as well. Basketball is not just the NBA. There have been many great players who never played or made little impact in the NBA (Oscar Schmidt, Andrew Gaze etc)
Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team
