Shaun Livingston Announces Retirement From NBA At 34

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Sep 13, 2019 4:37 pm

Shaun Livingston has announced his retirement at the age of 34.

Livingston was waived by the Golden State Warriors on July 10.

Livingston was the fourth overall pick in 2004 by the Los Angeles Clippers and was one of the NBA's most promising young point guards before suffering a devastating left leg injury.

Livingston worked his way back over several years and became a key part of the Warriors' run of three championships and five Finals appearances.

dude was a trooper for coming back from that injury, definitely takes a lot of mental fortitude to overcome something like that.

This dude played his role to perfection with Warriors. Never tried to do anything he couldn’t.

What he’d have been without injury is anyone’s guess, but I think he’d of been pretty good.

You're kidding right? An average backup point guard who averaged like 5PPG for a few seasons should get his jersey retired?

Clippers should retire his number. This man is a **** beast for coming back from that and having the nuts to compete, bang and play again. They said he'd have trouble running and walking.

I remember he turned down a big deal (at the time) and bet on himself to earn a bigger contract.
That was the year he ends up getting hurt. He's likely made that money back up (around 40mil total), but that injury cost him and even better career with even more money.

I tip my hat to this guy. I felt sorry for him when the injury happened. I thought his career was over, and I couldn't believe it when he came back.

Only respect.

He was considered to be the next big thing at point guard back then. Great talent, smart player.

Thank you S dot for the memories. Most gutsy Warriors player to come back from serious injuries and be able to play again.

A true champ. Fitting to end career in Oakland, one of America's gutsiest cities. This long time Dubs fan (40+years) will miss you.

Who should get retired? Curry, Klay, maybe not Draymond? The player with the most Finals MVP's in team history should.

Big respect for him- pure warrior for being able to come back from such an injury .. having said that think it’s WAY TOO MUCH to have his jersey retired imo.
