Domantas Sabonis has agreed to a four-year, $79.4 million contract extension with the Indiana Pacers.

Sabonis' future with the Pacers has been unclear given the presence of Myles Turner on the roster.

It's not a terribly exhilarating signing, but it makes logical sense, Pacers couldn't really afford not to sign him. As long as DS doesn't completely tank, locking him up 4 years gives Pacers some options moving forward even if they decide to trade him down the line. Losing him to an oversized restricted offer next summer just for the sake of another team to deperate not to, would leave the Pavers empty handed. He's like the sillohouette of Paul George's soul, got to hang onto him. Players don't willingly sign in Indy.

Talk about your mixed signals. Yesterday they were looking to deal Dom, today they extend him.

It’s most likely to make him easier to trade now that’s he’s locked into a longer deal.

Sabonis' quote from a few days ago concerning trade rumors. "I know exactly how the Pacers feel about me now. They know how I feel about that and there’s not much more to say. Let my agents do the rest of it and we’ll see what happens." I guess he was spot on!

The best way to gauge a players value is to see what other teams are willing to part with to get him. IND did their due diligence. Good for them. This seems like a pretty fair deal on both sides.

He’s a better player than Turner if you had to keep one

I absolutely agree that he is the better player but if the Pacers have to choose, they stick with Myles. The floor spacing big thats a league leader in blocks has more value. Needless to say, Domas is my favorite Pacer behind Vic and I'm glad we came to an agreement.
