Kristaps Porzingis Was Fully Committed To Knicks Until Shortly Before Trade Request

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Nov 7, 2019 4:56 pm

Kristaps Porzingis remained fully committed to remaining with the New York Knicks in the weeks prior to his trade to the Dallas Mavericks.

It is unclear what led him to alter the thinking of Porzingis and ask for a trade.

Some believe the issues Porzingis had were due to a lack of faith that the Knicks could create a winning environment around him.

The Knicks traded Porzingis shortly after a five-minute meeting they had with him and his agent Janis Porzingis.

New York acquired enough cap space to sign two max free agents by trading Porzingis, but they lost out on their hope of signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving when they instead chose the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks still have two future first round picks incoming from the Mavs.

Nice to see Porzingis employs a PR flack in his entourage.

First, there is not one quote from Porzingis in this article, so I question it's title. But the media will run with this release and then point to our current record to substantiate it. Easy pickens.

It was one nice opportunity that yes, got away. But the front office has been lauded by players and agents alike for their treatment of players. Coach Fiz is well respected by players and made an initial peace offering in Latvia.

Kristaps coming in during the tremulous Phil Jackson/Melo time didnt help. As a matter of fact, Phil was getting flack from Janis Porzingis and co. from the get. So much so, that reportedly Boston made a huge offer but Phil relucted. Phil has see some of the biggest egos of all time on his clubs, this one was too early on for his taste.

The hand was forced, no doubt about it, but still PK was done right by the Knicks for sending him to Dallas and Luka.

Funny though. No Porzingis, no Durant, no Zion. Luck and fate mixed hand.

Any pokers players out there taking another 2 years of this sht before the tide shifts odds? Lol

Heard they wouldn’t put janis on the payroll which created the rift. Low and behold he is currently employed by Dallis.

Knicks should have maxed his rookie extension start of the season even though he was hurt. 100mm can certainly let bygones be bygones.

In the past 25 years no players drafted by the knicks played for more than 5 years with the knicks.

Would you stay with the Knicks a minute longer than you had to? No,one in their right mind will stay as long as Dolan owns the team.

As far as I know it was not Janis, but KPs therapist (taking care of rehab) they wanted on a team payroll. And Dallas put him on the staff and are quite happy with him.
