The New York Knicks are in the midst of their worst stretch in franchise history with five straight 50-loss seasons and they're on pace to make it six this season.

During David Stern's regime, he lobbied James Dolan to replace Isiah Thomas with Donnie Walsh as team president.

Adam Silver, however, has gone on record to say he won't intervene with the Knicks. Silver reportedly had a role with the Philadelphia 76ers hiring Jerry Colangelo as the franchise began to pivot away from Sam Hinkie.

“I wouldn’t. It’s not my role,” Silver said Thursday on WFAN. “Of course, I work for 30 teams. And the 29 other teams want to beat that team. That’s not to say me getting involved (would be good) and that I’m in any better position to know what to do. We set the rules. And then we try to have a level playing field for the teams to compete."

yea hinkie's case is different... they were loading up on picks and actually trying to lose.. the knicks on the other hand are actually dishing out money to sign free agents in an effort to win... but they just suck... and dont have enough PFs.. need another 2..

I heard, Pau Gasol was waived by Blazers. He can be listed as PF, he can command huge money. So he could be right fit for the Knicks. Assisting for Blazers can wait one year. It is not Knicks money, which can't wait to be spent.

Whoa, NBA purchased the team because the previous owners wanted to sell fast and NBA had to step in because buyers weren’t ready

I wish he could force Dolan to sell the team. I feel like until Dolan sells, this team will go nowhere. Mills needs to go as well, he's basically done nothing but fail during his tenure and is basically Dolan's right hand. The team is terribly run.

Why can't Dolan have a hands off approach like he does with the Rangers? Dude should stick to making bad blues music. NBA ownership is not his thing.

NY market is way more important to the league's health but they can be horrible forever, meanwhile the Sixers are bad for three years and the whole league has a ******* meltdown. I hope they all go to hell for purposely trying to ruin a franchise because they didn't like the way it was built.

And honestly that hurts the Knicks in certain ways. Because a player now realizes they can be in L.A. or L.A. and City of Angels — and if their team is winning, they’re going to be globally famous and all the endorsements will follow.

Man, I like your style, compadre. Can't believe the Organization has nothing to say to the Knicks, but felt it was in everyone's best interest to "help" Philadelphia out. They'd never issue an apology or admit they were wrong so it is up to partisans and upstanding individuals such as yourself to never, ever let Silver or his ilk off the hook for their crimes.

Bingo. Dolan raking in boat loads of cash and laughing all the way to the bank. League intervened in NO and Philly because franchises were in dire straits and other owners didn't want to have to keep paying the bills for NO and Philly.

The only ones who care are Knick fans and the media. The biggest name team in the biggest tv market is a clusterf..k and national networks cannot realize the profits the market could generate because of it. Dolan's cable network doing just fine.

I’m glad he won’t intervene... I think this is great entertainment
