Mike D'Antoni Unlikely To Return To Rockets Next Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Dec 9, 2019 5:04 pm

Unless the Houston Rockets win the championship, a source sees the chances of retaining Mike D'Antoni head coach next season as "slim."

The Rocket and D'Antoni were unable to agree to an extension after several rounds of negotiations. D'Antoni is in the final season of his contract.

During the 2018 offseason, D'Antoni also had to push harder than he would have liked to have the Rockets pick up their option on his contract for 19-20. The Rockets were in a holding pattern when they believed signing LeBron James was possible.

D'Antoni is expected to receive considerable interest if he becomes a coaching free agent in the offseason.

I can see Dantoni coaching Giannis very well.

Atlanta, Washington, Chicago, Charlotte, OKC, Philly, and Portland all have the personnel and current situations to be interesting landing spots
