Masai Ujiri Turned Down Massive Extension Offer From Raptors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Dec 9, 2019 10:42 pm

Masai Ujiri turned down a massive contract extension offer from the Toronto Raptors last offseason, according to sources that spoke with Howard Beck of Bleacher Report.

The contract of Ujiri is believed to run through the 20-21 season, but has an out clause under certain circumstances.

It is believed Ujiri would like to keep his options open at this time.

The New York Knicks are known to have interest in Ujiri.

Imagine he ends up going to NYK and wins them a ring. He’ll become the king of NY and then Dolan will get jealous and fire him so he can bring back Isaiah lol

as per Google

"he signed a 5-year, $15 million contract to become the GM of Toronto Raptors."

how much does respectability and the chance to build a team capable of winning a championship worth to a Billionaire owner?

my guess is that he is looking for around $10+ mill/yr while using the Knicks as leverage against the Raptors

Brooklyn is a part of NYC bro. Durant and Kyrie didn't have the guts to try and win in MSG bro. Not everyone is built for that bro. Takes real grit to play in MSG while Knicks fans will boo you if they see you mailing it in bro.

I'll take that as a Knick fan.

As it is I'd say 80% of this board can probably do a better job than Mills and Perry at running the Knicks.

So this happened 6 months ago, but is at the top of the news now. I guess media got to get something out there to make Knicks fans think a savior is coming, even if they have to recycle old stories. And didn’t he actually sign some form of extension, just not as long as they offered?

Either way, quit giving Knicks fans false hopes - media has been doing it to them for years now and it’s just cruel and exploitive IMO.

You know periods don't always have to be proceeded by "bro" at the end of a sentence, right bro?

If you had a massive bag of cash waiting for you either way, you wouldn't keep your options open too? This is nothing. Every team would like to have a guy like him at the top, it's no secret.

What happened when that one ran out? As you say, 'per Google', ...

On May 31, 2013, Ujiri signed a 5-year, $15 million deal to become executive vice president and general manager of the Toronto Raptors, replacing Colangelo in that capacity

Wouldn't that contract have expired at the end of May, 2018?

MU signed a new 5 year contract in 2016.
